Environment is very proud to represent Scott Daniel Lamps now in our Environment Showrooms.

From a young age Scott Daniel Strickstein was mesmerized by the built environment and its basic building blocks - whether visiting construction sites with his father, puzzling over blueprints or building tree forts and igloos in his backyard, Scott!s memories of creating things from basic elements are ubiquitous. Late in high school he took an elective in ceramics and was at once fascinated with the process. Perhaps harkening back to early days or pointing towards the future, the experience signaled a life long love of the studio.
After graduating from Michigan State with a degree in Political Theory, Scott pursued a B.F.A at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit while studying ceramics, glass, metal and wood. With a B.A. and B.F.A. in hand and a new passion for furniture design, he made the pilgrimage to New York City in 2003 where he landed at Chista, a boutique furniture company and showroom. Scott spent six years managing the company and working with designers for high-end residential and hospitality projects around the world.

Striking out on his own in 2010, Scott Daniel, LLC. was launched with the first collection of lighting made from Cmesh™, a material-process he developed fusing metal wire inside ceramic. Scott draws inspiration from the idea of alchemy and from the processes of working with materials he loves, while designing and making furniture, lighting, and other objects. He is currently living, creating, and dreaming in Brooklyn, NY.

We first saw Scott's lighting at a trade show and loved the warm, diffuse light appearing through the ceramic mesh and immediately thought that the natural material used to make this line would work perfectly with our Peroba wood furniture. We installed the lighting in our New York Showroom, first with the cone shaped pendants and table lamps and then with his Arc floor lamp made with reclaimed teak: the success was immediate so we have decided to distribute his line in all of our US showrooms: Los Angeles, Orange County, Atlanta and New York.
