Launch Event: the 3rd year NYC Wildflower Week

New York Showroom

Thursday, April 29 By invitation

Celebrate the 3rd annual NYC Wildflower Week May 1-9, 2010 at free cultural events in all 5 boroughs! NYCWW connects New Yorkers to the nature in their own back yard with programs including children’s fairs, botanical walks, garden tours, planting opportunities, food events and more. Dozens of organizations will participate this year, giving New Yorkers a variety of ways to connect with and be inspired by their local environment.

NYC has a higher percentage of open space than any major city in the U.S! Our 53,000 acres of parkland is more than Los Angeles and Philadelphia combined. These parks are home to real, bona fide nature - towering forests, vibrant wetlands and expansive meadows. Yet most New Yorkers have no idea that these places exist in the five boroughs.

NYC Wildflower Week is a unique, grassroots environmental organization that connects New Yorkers to this local, natural environment and creates awareness of the importance of nature to the health, sustainability, and local identity of the city and its people.
